In 1975 introduceerde David Clark de eerste headset welke speciaal ontworpen was om geluidsbescherming te bieden. Daarnaast zorgde deze headset ook voor een helder en geïsoleerd ontvangstgeluid terwijl tijdens het zenden een kraakheldere stemgeluid op normaal stem niveau mogelijk was in een lawaaiig vliegtuig.
